Caversham Arts Trail 18th -20th May 2012 – Week 2

Many thanks to all of you who attended the first weekend of Caversham Arts Trail. We are pleased to say the trail was well-attended and made all the more enjoyable by the sunshine.

We will be opening again this Friday 18th May through until Sunday 20th May. All venues are open from 11am to 5pm. (Please note that venue 9 will not be open on Friday 18th May).

We have 8 new artists showing this year, as well as some new venues, and plenty of activities as well as some rather nice cake on sale in aid of our chosen charity TEAM Hannah.
Briefly, our new artists and their venues are:
Bookity – Re-using unwanted books – Venue 3

Sophie Waite – Smoke fired ceramics –  Venue 5 (this venue also has some good cake on sale)
Beady Pool – Lampwork and silver jewellery – Venue 6
Lou Jessop –  Relief appliqué – Venue 8
Nicola Kantorowicz, Stained glass – Venue 8 (tea and cake also available here)
Sanbags – Hand crafted bags – Venue 11
Debbie Page – Pottery – Venue 12
And the activities taking place are:
Poetry reading, Two Rivers Press, 3pm Saturday(this venue is in a nice garden setting) – Venue 2
Slip casting and ceramic demonstrations, Lauren Denney, on-going – Venue 6 
Open mike poetry, 3pm Saturday, Robin Thomas (also in a nice garden, with cake and refreshments available, NEW venue) Venue 10
Make a fused glass pendant, Barbara Goodbun, on-going – Venue 11
Silversmithing demo, 2:30pm Sunday, Matthew Hitch – Venue 12

Caversham Arts Trail 13th-15th May 2011

The first weekend of the Caversham Arts trail was a great success. We are very much looking forward to opening again this coming Friday 13th May until Sunday 15th May from 11am to 5pm.

Caversham Arts Trail gives you the opportunity to visit local  artists, designers and makers in their studios, homes and gardens. With over 30 artists participating this year there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.

This weekend you can also enjoy the following demonstrations: basketmaking,  silverwork , chinese brush painting, spinning and weaving,  jewellery making, slip casting ceramics as well as poetry reading. See the flyer for more information.

Please note that venue 12 is only open on 14th and 15th May.

Five of the artists participating in the Caversham Arts Trail will also be showing their work at the Reading Contemporary Art Fair on 14th and 15th May. Look out for Louise Spiers, Julie Simmonds, Charles Burns,  Matthew Keeler and Sonia Olaniyan at the Caversham Artists stand. MUG SHOTS:  Do you have a favorite tea or coffee cup? You know… the one you choose over all others when the cupboard is full. Caversham Arts Trail artist, Matthew Keeler at Venue number 5, is looking for people to participate in his next project.  Matthew wants to produce a series of small portraits of people with their favorite tea or coffee cup. These will be exhibited during next years Caversham Arts Trail. Anyone interested in taking part in the project, please contact Matthew for further details via

Caversham Arts Trail 7&8 and 13-15 May 2011

This year the second Caversham Arts Trail will take place across Caversham. You can keep track of updates via facebook and on twitter.

There are 32 artists showing their work in studios, workshops, homes and gardens across Caversham. It is a chance for you to see and buy art work made in Caversham and the surrounding area at your leisure. Take this opportunity to speak directly to the artists themselves, useful if you have a particular commission in mind.

We are pleased to announce that we will be collecting donations and raising awareness for the King’s Meadow Baths.  The baths will be open from 11am to 5pm on 13th, 14th and 15th May where you will get to see the baths in all their glory  as  well as  future plans. Check their website for more information on the campaign and how you can get involved in this local treasure.

Venue 12 will  hold a collection of various artist work as well as a display from the King’s Meadow Baths and a display entitled Caversham 100 years on. The opening of venue 12 will take place at 10.30am on 7th May, please come along, see details here.

Caversham Arts Trail 2011

After a successful show at Kings Walk, Reading we are now busy preparing for our Arts Trail. The Caversham Arts Trail will take place across 15 venues in Caversham with 32 artists taking part. More details will follow in the next month. You can keep track of updates here and on our facebook page or twitter feed.

You are invited to visit 16 local artists and makers showing and selling their work over two weekends in May. There will be seven venues with a unique and varied collection of  jewellery, paintings, ceramics, wood work, stained glass, weaving, textile art, stone sculpture, contemporary silver, handmade soaps, photography, decoupage furniture and drawings.

Step the trail in the spring sunshine between the hours of 11 am and 5 pm.  Throughout the trail there will be the following demonstrations and events.

Caversham Arts Trail 8&9, 15&16 May 2010

We are pleased to confirm that the much awaited Caversham Arts Trail will be taking place over two weekends in May. There will be 15 artists taking part in the arts trail that will run on 8&9 and 15&16 May.
